Cyber Insurance Readiness

Know whether your security controls match what your cyber insurer expects.

What is Cyber Insurance Readiness?

Cyber Insurance Readiness is a gap review that compares your actual security controls with what cyber insurers typically ask for, so you can answer renewal questions accurately and know what to fix first.

Cyber insurance applications now ask specific questions. Is MFA on for all email accounts? Are backups kept offline? Is endpoint protection on every device? A wrong answer can complicate a claim later.

Many owners answer these from memory or pass the form to their IT provider. The answers are often close, but not always accurate.

This review compares your actual controls to what insurers typically expect. It shows where you are covered, where you are not and what evidence you should have ready. The result is that you answer with confidence, and you know what to fix first if a gap shows up.

Who needs it?

  • A business facing its first cyber insurance application
  • A company whose renewal questionnaire has become longer and more specific
  • An owner unsure whether they could prove the answers they gave last year
  • A business whose insurer has asked for specific controls to be in place

What problems does it address?

  • Renewal questions answered from memory
  • An application passed to the IT provider and signed without checking
  • Not knowing what evidence you should have ready
  • A wrong answer that could complicate a claim later

What we assess

  • Multi-factor authentication on email, remote access and administrator accounts
  • Privileged access
  • Endpoint protection
  • Backups and ransomware controls
  • Email security
  • Remote access
  • Incident response planning
  • Security awareness training
  • Whether each control is documented and can be shown

What you receive

  • A control-by-control gap list against common insurer requirements
  • Plain-language answers you can stand behind on an application or renewal
  • Evidence you should collect before you submit
  • A short plan for closing the gaps

Avertix cannot guarantee coverage, approval or a particular premium. Insurers set their own requirements. We help you see where your controls differ from what they typically ask for.

What happens afterward?

You decide what to do with the findings, and with whom. Your team or IT provider can carry them out, with Avertix guiding the changes and retesting them if you want, or you can keep senior help on hand through an advisory arrangement. Many clients stop after the report.

How the engagement works

  1. Free consultation

A 45-minute call with a senior consultant about your situation. It is a conversation, not an assessment. You leave with a recommended next step.

  2. Scope and price

Scope, deliverables and price are agreed in writing before any work starts.

  3. Assessment

The consultant who scoped the work does it. Requests to your team stay small, and we work with your IT provider where you have one.

  4. Findings and walkthrough

You get a written report and a walkthrough. Findings are ranked, so you know what to do first and what can wait.

Questions about Cyber Insurance Readiness

Can you guarantee we will pass an insurance review?
No, and be careful with anyone who says they can. Insurers set their own requirements. We show you where your controls differ from what is typically asked for, and help you close the gaps.
Is the first consultation free?
Yes. The first call is a free 45-minute working session with a senior consultant. It is a conversation about your situation, not an assessment. You leave with a recommended next step and an idea of the cost, whether or not you hire us.
Is the assessment itself free?
No. The consultation is free. The assessment is a paid, fixed-scope engagement, and its scope, deliverables and price are agreed in writing before any work starts.
Do you fix what you find?
Your IT provider or team makes the changes. If you want, Avertix guides them through the fixes and retests the findings afterward, through Remediation Guidance & Retesting.
Who does the work?
The senior consultant who scopes the engagement is the person who does the work. It is not handed to a junior team.
Will you work with our IT provider?
Yes. Your provider runs the systems. We provide independent security review, design and advice, and findings are written so your provider can act on them.
