What is an AI Security Assessment?
An AI Security Assessment shows which AI tools your people use, what company data goes into them, and which controls and policies you need to use AI without exposing information that should not leave the company.
Your staff are probably already using AI. They paste in emails, draft proposals, summarize meetings and clean up spreadsheets. Most of it is harmless. Some of it includes customer data, contracts or financial detail that should not leave the company.
Banning the tools rarely works. Having no rules is not a safe option either. What works is knowing what is in use, setting sensible limits and fixing the permissions underneath, because an AI assistant can only expose what a user could already open.
This assessment gives you that picture and a policy your people can follow. If you are building your own AI features, such as a chatbot, a RAG system or AI agents, AI application security testing tests them directly. If you need a formal ISO/IEC 42001 management system, the AI governance work builds on both.
Who needs it?
- A business whose staff use ChatGPT or similar tools without guidance
- A company thinking about turning on Microsoft Copilot
- A team whose vendors keep adding AI features
- An owner who worries about what is being pasted into public tools
What problems does it address?
- Staff pasting customer data, contracts or financial detail into AI tools
- No rules on AI use, or a ban nobody follows
- AI assistants such as Copilot surfacing files people can open but should not
- Vendors adding AI features that connect to your data
What we assess
- Which AI tools employees use, including ones nobody approved
- What kinds of company and customer data are going into them
- SaaS products that added AI features or connected to your data
- Access controls and permissions that an AI tool could inherit
- Data handling terms of the AI services you use
- Existing AI policies, and whether staff know them
- Microsoft Copilot considerations, including oversharing of files
- Third-party AI services connected to your systems
What you receive
- An inventory of the AI tools and integrations in use
- The data exposure risks that matter most
- A plain-language AI use policy, drafted for your business
- Access and permission changes to make before enabling AI features
- A short list of next steps
What happens afterward?
You decide what to do with the findings, and with whom. Your team or IT provider can carry them out, with Avertix guiding the changes and retesting them if you want, or you can keep senior help on hand through an advisory arrangement. Many clients stop after the report.
How the engagement works
Free consultation
A 45-minute call with a senior consultant about your situation. It is a conversation, not an assessment. You leave with a recommended next step.
Scope and price
Scope, deliverables and price are agreed in writing before any work starts.
Assessment
The consultant who scoped the work does it. Requests to your team stay small, and we work with your IT provider where you have one.
Findings and walkthrough
You get a written report and a walkthrough. Findings are ranked, so you know what to do first and what can wait.
