Who this covers
Avertix Cyber Inc. ("Avertix", "we") is a cybersecurity consulting firm based in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. This policy covers the website at avertix.ca and the consultation request form on it.
It does not cover the separate engagement agreements we sign with clients, which set their own confidentiality terms.
What we collect
We collect nothing until you choose to contact us. There is no account, no login, and no profile.
If you send a message through the consultation form, we receive what you type into it:
- Your first name and email address — the only two required fields.
- Your last name, phone number, organization, which service you are asking about, and your message — all optional.
Attached to the notification that reaches our mailbox, our form handler also records your IP address, the date and time, and your browser's user-agent string. This is ordinary abuse-prevention context for an open form on the public internet.
If you book a time through the embedded calendar, you are dealing with Cal.com directly and they collect the name, email address and time slot you give them. See "Who else processes it" below.
We use no analytics. There is no tracking script, no advertising pixel and no measurement product on this site. We do not know how many people visit it or which pages they read.
Our typefaces are served from our own server, not from a font network, so loading this page does not disclose your IP address to a third party.
Cookies and local storage
This site sets no cookies.
It stores two small preferences in your browser's local storage — your light/dark theme choice and your English/French language choice — so the site remembers them on your next visit. Both stay on your device. They are never transmitted to us and never leave your browser. Clearing your site data removes them.
The Cal.com calendar is a third-party frame and may set its own storage under its own policy, but only once you open the consultation dialog.
Why we have it, and what we do with it
We use what you send us to reply to your enquiry, to schedule and prepare for a consultation, and to keep an ordinary business record of it. That is all.
We do not add you to a mailing list. We do not send marketing you did not ask for. We do not sell, rent, trade or otherwise disclose your information to anyone for their own purposes.
Under PIPEDA our basis is your consent, which you give by choosing to submit the form or book a time. You can withdraw it at any time — see "Your rights".
Who else processes it
Running a website means using service providers, and being specific about them is the point of this section. Each one below receives something, and nothing else does:
- Cal.com — powers the scheduling calendar embedded in the consultation dialog. If you book a time, Cal.com receives your name, email address and chosen slot. The calendar is loaded only when you open the dialog; if you never open it, no request is ever made to Cal.com.
- Our web and email hosting provider — stores this site and carries the mail our form sends.
Each of these is bound by its own privacy policy. Cal.com is loaded only when you open the booking dialog, not on page load, so simply reading this site never contacts it. The bot check that protects the message form runs entirely on our own server and involves no third party.
Abuse prevention and retention
So the consultation form cannot be used to flood our mailbox or to send mail to strangers, our handler applies several limits. It stores a one-way hash of your IP address alongside the timestamps of recent submissions — the address itself is never written to that store, and entries older than one hour are discarded. It also stores a one-way hash of any address the acknowledgement is sent to, so that nobody can be mailed repeatedly by this form, and those entries are discarded after 24 hours.
Consultation requests arrive as email and are retained for up to 24 months, so that we can respond to you, carry out any work that follows, and keep an ordinary business record of the enquiry. After that they are deleted. If you would like yours deleted sooner, ask and we will delete it.
Your rights
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) you may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information about you we hold, and give you access to it;
- correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete what you sent us; or
- withdraw your consent to our holding it at all.
Write to info@avertix.ca and we will respond within thirty days. There is no charge.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. The consultation form is protected by a bot check and a rate limit, and the page ships a content security policy that restricts what it is permitted to load. Personal information you send us is handled by a small number of people at Avertix on a need-to-know basis.
No transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If you have something genuinely sensitive to tell us, ask us for an encrypted channel before you send it — do not put it in this form.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or who processes it, we will change this page and update the date at the top. The version you are reading is the current one.
